Route descriptions:

10 km Family Ride:   This 10 km route is designed for young families who enjoy cycling short, safe, relatively flat and easy routes together.  The route provides many places where children can be entertained and informed about the various interesting stops along the way.
The route begins at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, travels down Mt. Newton X Road on a wide bike shoulder to the Highway 17 pedestrian overpass which connects to Lochside Trail.  From there it heads south on Lochside Trail.  Be sure to stop at Heritage Acres (Saanich Historical Artifacts Society) between 10:30 - 12:30 and hop on the train for a scenic 15 minute ride around the site.  It's well worth the stop!
At the farmyard turnaround point, children will be introduced to the mammoth pigs that will provide an animated interpretation of the workings of the farm.  Returning across the pedestrian overpass at Mt. Newton X Road, all riders will be guided across Mt. Newton by a route marshal.  A short ride up an easy hill to the hospital parking lot completes the ride.

100 km route:             The 100 km route is challenging, and best suited for strong, fit cyclists who like to push themselves. The route includes several steep hills.
